A car was abandoned at the Dartford Tunnel in the early hours of the morning following a police chase.

Drivers were delayed last night on the M25 after the car was left in lane one near to Junction 1a at around 2.10am.

Officers had been pursuing the vehicle, which they believed to have been stolen, but a short while later it was found with no occupants inside.

The carriageway had to be closed while officers searched the area and for the vehicle to be recovered safely.

The road was cleared just over three hours later.
