Johnnie Jackson crossed for Danny Hollands (pictured) to head the Addicks infront on 20 minutes and it was 2-0 just a minute before the break when Rhoys Wiggins slotted in from close range.
However the hosts pulled one back on 57 minutes when Ashley Grimes converted Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro's cross.
Dale were level on the hour mark when David Ball drilled low past Ben Hamer from six yards out.
However, Hollands grabbed his second and the winning goal 10 minutes from time when he rose highest at the back post to head in Jackson's deep corner.
