Mick Jagger and Keith Richards may be honoured by the town in Kent where they grew up.

Dartford Council is planning to name 13 streets after the Rolling Stones and their hits.

Names being considered include Satisfaction Street, Ruby Tuesday Drive and Angie Mews.

The familiar titles are on a list of suggested road names for the next phase of The Bridge development - all based on songs and lyrics by the Rolling Stones.

But Kent Police have raised concerns the signs may be targeted and stolen by Rolling Stones collectors.

Hits by the band, whose stars Mick Jagger and Keith Richards both grew up in Dartford, will adorn street signs in phase three of the £400 million, 1,500-home project.

The idea is a collaboration between developers, George Wimpey, Bridge designer Wayne Hemmingway, Dartford council and its leader Cllr Jeremy Kite.

Also on the potential line-up are Stones Avenue, Little Red Walk, Start Street and Babylon Close.

Neither the emergency services, nor Royal Mail have objected to the names, according to the council report.

But police have warned the signs may be prone to the kind of thefts seen in Abbey Road and Penny Lane, Liverpool - popular souvenir spots for Beatles fans.

Kent Police declined to comment before the matter was discussed by the council’s cabinet, but Dartford council leader, Jeremy Kite, quipped: "The Police and the Stones have always been rivals. But there’s a message in a bottle here - you can’t always get what you want."

He added: "But I’m sure there’ll be satisfaction!"
