Members of the community gathered on a busy road near the spot a 10-year girl was critically injured in Dartford.
Up to 20 people from the local area came together to pay their respects for around 40 minutes this afternoon.
Flowers were laid near the fire station, which is close to where the accident happened.
One woman, who didn't want to give her name, described the youngster as a "lovely little girl with a heart of gold".
Others spoke of their shock.
The Brent Primary School pupil was struck by a yellow Audi S1 in Watling Street at just after 6.50pm on Saturday.
She was hit near the junction with Meadow Way, suffering critical injuries and was taken to a London hospital for treatment.
A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene and has since been released on bail until August 3.
Investigating officers were seen knocking on doors to request doorbell footage and are urging any witnesses to come forward.
The young girl had been playing with friends in a nearby play park before being hit in the busy street, according to eye witnesses.
Watling Street resident Muna Halim said: "She was playing in the park behind my house.
"I heard some commotion outside, but I didn't realise what had happened. It was really sad."
Another neighbour described hearing a "loud bang" before fire crews and paramedics arrived shortly after.
