Seal eats lunch in River Thames at Greenhithe

A seal has been papped enjoying lunch in a wildlife hotspot.

The pup was spotted yesterday by Anthony Laurent while looking out from his home by the riverfront in Greenhithe.

The photography enthusiast was poised to capture a ship floating past on the River Thames when the seal popped its head above the water.

He said: “I took some pictures of them both. They’re more commonly seen lying on the banks further up the river but they clearly aren’t fazed by the boats.

“I see them around here two maybe three times a week and more commonly now the weather is getting colder.”

As well as developing his camera work Anthony also has a small passion for wildlife and has seen lots of interesting animals from his waterside home.

He continued: “I have seen cormorants, herons, egrets, and seals.

“One thing I haven’t seen yet is a porpoise but others have and I know they live in the river.”
