The M25 has reopened, 11 hours after a serious lorry crash.
The accident, which involved two HGVs, happened on the anti-clockwise side between junction 3 for the Swanley interchange and junction 2 for the Darenth interchange.
The smash happened at 2.15am, prompting police to completely close the road. One lane reopened at around 7am, but the other three remained shut until 1pm.
Initially, Highways England said the road was not expected to fully reopen until 6pm, with normal traffic conditions expected at around 7pm.
A spokesman has since confirmed the road has reopened following inspection and repair work, adding: "Drivers are thanked for their patience while the closure was in place."
Police, ambulance crews and four fire engines were sent to the scene this morning. Kent Fire and Rescue Service said one person was trapped in their vehicle.
A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a collision, reported to involve two lorries, on the M25 between junctions 3 and 2 at 2.19am on Wednesday 13 July. It is reported to have happened on the anti-clockwise carriageway.
"Secamb and Kent Fire and Rescue Service also attended and one man has been taken to a local hospital for treatment to his injuries.
"A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving however he has since been released without charge."
