A PARENT teacher association treasurer who stole £10,000 from funds has been warned by a judge at Maidstone Crown Court that she could face a jail sentence.
Madeline Stevenson admitted taking the cash from Bean Primary School PTA, near Dartford, between February 2002 and July 2004.
The 44-year-old mother also admitted two charges of false accounting over the same period by falsifying figures.
Stevenson, of Sayer Close, Greenhithe, altered the figures to show a balance of £2,730.69 when it was actually £64.65 and £2,547.29 when it was £34.61.
Anna Farley, defending, said there were exceptional circumstances, including marital difficulties, a seriously ill daughter and financial problems.
Adjourning sentence for reports, Judge Jeremy Carey said the options were relatively limited. “You were in a position of trust and abused that trust,” he told Stevenson.
