A FURIOUS mother is demanding police action after her son was brutally beaten by a gang of teenagers at Bluewater.
The 19-year-old and his friend were left bloodied and terrified after being set upon by the gang of 10 teenagers at the shopping centre’s bus station.
When they fled to a bus for help, the driver just shut the doors in their faces, saying he did not want any trouble. The incident has infuriated the mother of the victim, who lives in Dartford.
Now she has banned all four of her children from going to the shopping mall for fear of what may happen to them.
She said: "How can this be allowed to happen? My son wasn’t looking for trouble, this gang just set about him and his friend.”
Her son suffered a broken nose and black eye in the attack, which took place at 11pm, on April 29. He is too terrified to go anywhere near Bluewater again.
Police were called to the attack and one of the gang involved has been traced and spoken to.
The victim's mother added: "I can’t believe that this kid got away with a telling-off. This was a serious attack and they should be punished."
She has since contacted MP Dr Howard Stoate, who wrote to north Kent police urging further action. She has received a reply from area commander Supt Martin Hewitt to say he has passed the details on to an inspector.
She said: "I’m really cross those responsible have been let off. So many people have said to me Bluewater is not safe for youngsters. I am too scared to let any of mine go near the place now."
Supt Hewitt said: "All incidents of violence are taken seriously. We have dedicated officers who patrol Bluewater and tackle anti-social behaviour, in partnership with Bluewater’s security."
