Kent train commuters are facing severe disruption today after a lightning strike in Otford.

Southeastern services between Ashford International and London Victoria via Maidstone East were being cancelled, delayed or diverted.

Lightning overnight has caused damage to the signalling equipment between Otford and Eynsford.

Network Rail engineers are at the scene and working to fix the problem.

Replacement buses are running between Ashford and Maidstone East; Maidstone East and Swanley; and Swanley and Sevenoaks.

A normal service was expected to be in operation by about 10.30am.
