Teenage sprint sensation Adam Gemili has announced that he will run at London 2012, as well as the World Junior Championships, it was being reported today.
The 18-year-old from Dartford finished second in the 100m Olympic trials at the weekend, earning himself a place on Team GB.
There was speculation as to whether he would opt out of the Games, however, to concentrate on his original target of the World Junior Championships in Barcelona, which start two weeks before London 2012.
But, according to reports, the former Dartford Grammar School pupil has said he will race in Barcelona, and then "get his head down and train hard" for the Olympics.
His former PE teacher Gary Jones told the Messenger today: "There is never going to be another British Olympics in our lifetime. There is that advantage and attraction of being at home that cannot be replicated anywhere else."
Adam became the fastest Briton over 100m this year when he ran a blistering 10.08secs in Germany earlier this month.
The former Chelsea academy trainee only started running seriously in January this year after turning his back on a life-long dream to become a professional footballer.
