Dartford picked up an impressive away win at St Albans as goals from Lee Burns and Jack Pallen lifted them into the top half of the Blue Square South table.
But, Tony Burman's side chanced their luck at times before securing all three points. St Albans hit the bar with a penalty at 1-1 in the second half, shortly after equalising.
Lee Burns found the net for the first time this season to put the visitors ahead after 26 minutes. His header over the defence was completely mis-judged by the St Albans goalkeeper and found the back of the net after a strong Dartford start.
Paul Goodacre and Charlie Sheringham went close to doubling the Darts' advantage after the break as first Goodacre had an effort cleared off the line and Sheringham headed narrowly over the bar.
But St Albans, who look set for relegation following an FA decision earlier in the week to uphold a points deduction, equalised just before the hour through Tony Battersby.
Paul Goodacre then committed a foul to give away a penalty soon after, but his blushes were spared when the spot kick was missed. Dartford's match winner came off the bench as Pallen was sent through with four minutes remaining to seal a deserved win.
