The Co-op in The Row, New Ash Green is celebrating selling a winning lottery ticket

A supermarket has struck gold after selling a lottery ticket worth more than £1 million.

The Co-op in The Row, New Ash Green, has had its fair share of bad luck in recent weeks but is calling itself a “lucky store” now after one of its customers bought a winning lottery ticket.

To celebrate selling the million-pound ticket the branch has been honoured with a gold lottery stand.

Its manager Laura Parry said: "We are super excited to hear that a winning ticket was sold from our store.

“Congratulations to the lucky winner and we love our new gold stands that we have been presented with and now have to celebrate the New Ash Green store being a lucky store."

The shop has not been quite so lucky in recent months after its shutters were destroyed and a cash machine damaged in an early hours ram-raid last November.

The attack came just weeks after the supermarket was relaunched after a two-month makeover.

It underwent improvements with the aim of giving it a more “spacious” feel for customers as well as new refridgeration throughout the supermarket.
