Ten fire crews were sent to the scene of large industrial fire near the Dartford Crossing.
Plumes of smoke could be seen from around Dartford as firefighters battled the blaze in Motherwell Way, Thurrock, Essex, this morning.
Crews were initially called just after 4.50am, with eight fire engines attending along with an aerial ladder platform and incident command unit.
On arrival, crews reported that an industrial unit - measuring 20 metres by 40 metres - was heavily smoke logged, and people living and working in the area were advised to keep windows and doors closed.
The fire has since been extinguished although two fire engines and the aerial platform remain at the scene, with crews damping down and monitoring hotspots.
The building and a number of vehicles inside were destroyed in the fire.
