Sports students raised £1,200 to support young people with cancer with 48 hours of uninterrupted exercise.
The challenge, from North Kent College students at the Dartford campus incorporated various types of activities including yoga, kickboxing, football, cricket, table tennis, badminton, pole fitness, circuit training, frisbee, basketball, netball, rowing.
The borough’s mayor, Cllr Ian Armitt, opened and closed the sporting extravaganza last week for Teens Unite, which supports cancer suffers aged between 13 and 24.
Student Kayleigh Hall took part and said “Thank you so much to everyone who supported us by joining in with the many activities, as well as those who have donated so far. We’re so proud of our achievements and the amount we’ve raised for such a fantastic cause.”
Fellow student Sidney Roach added: “Although we had a great time, we’re glad it’s over and I can’t wait to get to bed.”
The college had guest coaches and trainers leading sessions.
James Butterfill, the college’s sports curriculum manager, pulled the 2am to 4am shift on both days.
He also took part in a separate charity cricket match and is running a marathon with proceeds also going to Teens Unite.
He said: “The work undertaken by the Foundation degree Sport Studies students has been outstanding over the two days. In particular, their desire to continue the project in the early hours of the morning demonstrates to me their total commitment to the project.
“Although this has been physically and mentally exhausting for them I have confidence that this is something that they can look back on in years to come with tremendous pride."
Students had already raised about £500 and the rest from the two-day challenge is still being totted up.
