Two thieves reportedly threatened a workman with a knife before stealing a wood chipping machine in Wilmington.
The men are thought to have unclipped the chipper - which was being used by workmen in High Road - from a van before attaching it to a silver Audi estate, and driving away.
Before they left, they were challenged by a workman who was then threatened with a knife.
No arrests have yet been made in connection with the robbery, which took place at about 10.50am on November 28.
Police are conducting enquiries, and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area at the time, or anyone who may have been offered an orange Timberwolf wood chipping machine for sale since November 28.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 01474 366149, quoting 46/14138/18, or to remain anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
