The cause was said to be a tumble dryer.

It is the third blaze this week where Kent Fire and Rescue Service has said the cause was a tumble dryer.

Similar blazes were recorded in Chatham High Street on Tuesday and in Rochester High Street on Monday.

Fortunately, on this occasion, there were no reported injuries.

Following this latest incident, the fire service has issued safety advice.

It is urging people not to overload their tumble dryers, to clean the filter regularly and never to run it when you are not at home and awake, to ensure you are there to react quickly if there is a fire.

Also always follow the manufacturer's instructions about positioning and ventilation of the machine.
