THOUSANDS came together at the weekend to soak up the sun and fantastic free entertainment at the Dartford Festival.
A sea of smiling adults and face-painted children could be seen across Central Park as more than 47,500 people turned out on Saturday and Sunday to catch a glimpse of the action - a whopping 7,500 more than last year.
A constant crowd surrounded the main stage as they were wowed by fantastic performances from Jason Donovan, Chas 'n' Dave, three acts from Britain's Got Talent and 15-year-old operatic baritone singer Matthew Crane, to name a few.
Even the youngsters in the audience enjoyed 80s duo Chas 'n' Dave as they performed the classics Rabbit, Snooker Loopy and Margate.
For those looking for entertainment away from the stage there were dance acts, inflatable slides, sports events, plus a community arena for displays and activities.
Cllr Patsy Thurlow, portfolio holder for the festival, said the Dartford Borough Council event was enjoyed by all.
Cllr Thurlow said: "It was an amazing weekend that had a very good, happy atmosphere. From skateboarders to bowlers, there was something for everyone to do, see and watch all weekend.
"Everyone joined in with the performers and came along to enjoy the weekend for the fabulous fun it was."
One of the spectacular shows to prove popular with the crowds was the circus, complete with daring trapeze acts, juggling, acrobatics and the circus clown.
Plenty of people also crammed into the arts and crafts marquee to listen to horticulturist Tom Hart Dyke give tips and advice on gardening, while others sunbathed on the grass, soaking up the fun around them.
