Several burnt-out cars, number plates and car parts have been found abandoned in woodland.
The vehicles were spotted by walkers on Sunday (December 29) on the former Mabledon Hospital site between Darenth Country Park and Waller Park in Dartford.
One person, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “It’s such a shame that recently in the last six months we’ve had about six cars burnt out here.
“Broken glass and all sorts are left behind”.
The police said it was called to a report of a suspicious car being driven in a field near Green Street Green Road in Darenth at around 3.40pm on Sunday (December 29).
A police spokesperson said: “Officers went to the scene where the vehicle, which is suspected to have been stolen, had been set alight.
“A search did not locate any suspects and Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended to extinguish the blaze.
“Four further cars were located in the area in a burnt out condition and an investigation is underway.
“Officers are appealing to anyone with information to call the appeal line on 01474 366149, quoting reference 29-0677.”
The pictures appear to show three burnt and blackened vehicles of the same make and model, one with its bumper left open.
Meanwhile, a number plate was found within shrubs and part of a bumper and number plate were spotted elsewhere in the woodland.
The fire service has been contacted for more information.
It is understood the site is the responsibility of the Dignity Group and it has been contacted for a comment.
