Dartford’s Ryman League Premier Division title challenge faltered with defeat at Tooting & Mitcham on Saturday.
The game was start of what manager Tony Burman had said beforehand was their ‘most important week of the season.’
But his side made life hard for themselves by conceding an early goal when Jamie Coyle mis-judged the ball and Simon Parker got through and scored.
The visitors were on the back-foot early on with Coyle and Adam Gross both clearing efforts off the line, keeper Andrew Young pushing the ball over and another Tooting effort hitting the crossbar.
But Darts then started to come back into the game and saw a Carl Rook effort acrobatically cleared off the line and Lee Noble fire a shot just wide.
Ryan Hayes forced the Tooting keeper into a save after the break, but Darts were left to rue their missed chances.
Tooting hit them on the break for a second through Paul Vines, before Vines went on to add a third that wrapped up the game.
Allan Tait netted a consolation goal for the visitors.
