Households and businesses in Greenhithe are set to benefit from new 'ultrafast' broadband service, according to Kent broadband specialist Trooli.
The company has confirmed the town will be one of the next places to be connected to the full fibre network it is laying across rural parts of the county.
Work has already begun and the company says the network is set to go live in early spring.
Categorised as ultrafast and up to 13 times quicker than the UK average, the service takes a full fibre connection directly into a customer’s premises with speeds of 300, 500 or 900Mbps depending on the product chosen.
Trooli Chief Executive Officer Andy Conibere said: “We are proud to be a Kent-based company and are committed to continuously expanding our network across the county. We are delighted to now be expanding into Greenhithe.
“We are seeing exceptional demand as families continue to spend more time enjoying themselves online at home and with individuals requiring a much improved internet connection to work from home effectively.
“Inadequate broadband is rife in the county’s smaller towns and villages, to the detriment of residents and local businesses. We are determined to change that with our new full fibre network.”
Rather than use historic Openreach copper telephone cabling to deliver its service, the company installs its own new full fibre network to improve speeds and reliability.
Launched in 2018, Trooli is backed by €30m from the Connecting Europe Broadband Fund (CEBF) and a further £5m from NatWest.
The company hopes its network will be accessible to 150,000 homes and businesses in the next 12 months, rising to 500,000 by the end of 2023 and one million in 2024.
