Dog dies in suspicious house fire in Irving Walk, Swanscombe

Detectives are investigating after a dog tragically died in a suspicious house fire.

Six people were in the property in Irving Walk, Swanscombe, when the blaze broke out and one person was treated for smoke inhalation.

Fire crews, police and paramedics were called to the scene at 11.13pm last night.

It took three crews until almost 1am before the fire was out and they were able to leave.

Firefighters had to use breathing apparatus while tackling the flames with hose reel jets.

A police spokesman said: "The cause of the fire is still under investigation but officers would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area between the times of 10pm and midnight."
