Part of the Dartford Crossing is set close for all but one evening a week for the next two months.
National Highways says one of the tunnels – the right side route – will be shut for electrical works from 10pm until 5am.
Most traffic is being diverted via the left tunnel.
But the alternative route for high-sided vehicles over 4.8m is via the M25 clockwise.
The works form part of a two-month long programme of scheduled works which started yesterday.
It means the east tunnel – which is the right-sided higher bore – will be closed between 10pm and 5am on weeknights and Sunday nights until the end of May.
Traffic using the A282 northbound heading towards Essex could be impacted and drivers are advised to check before they travel.
The Dartford Crossing acts as a link between Kent and Esssex.
It consists of two bored tunnels and the cable-stayed Queen Elizabeth II Bridge.
The two tunnels are subject to different height restrictions.
When travelling northbound towards the tunnels, you must get in the correct lane after junction 2 and before junction 1a − you will not be able to change lanes after junction 1a.
