Traffic has returned to normal on the Dartford Crossing following a crash involving three lorries.

It happened anti-clockwise between J1a for Swanscombe and J31 on the Essex side for West Thurrock at around 2.10pm.

Two lanes of the M25 were closed, causing congestion to reach back to J3 for the M20/A20 turn-off.

Highways officials confirmed the M25 and east bore tunnel reopened 4.50pm.

However, it took until around 6.30pm for traffic to clear.
