A2 near Bluewater, Dartford reopens after serious crash sends two to hospital

A major road was shut for around two hours after a serious crash.

Traffic on the A2 in Dartford was twice halted in both carriageways between the B225 at Bluewater and the M25 junction 2 at the Darenth Interchange.

The crash involved a van and a lorry and two people were taken to hospital for treatments.

The road reopened but quickly closed a second time following a crash on the fast link.

Currently a single lane on the A2 London-bound remains closed on the exit slip road, but cameras show traffic to be moving again.

London-bound congestion was queuing back to Pepper Hill in Gravesend, and five miles back to Dartford Heath coast-bound.

Ambulance crews reached the incident shortly after 11.20am and treated the two casualties on site before taking them to hospital.

An air ambulance landed and airlifted one of the casualties to the Princess Royal University Hospital in London.
