Love really was in the air on Valentine's Day for a Greenhithe couple who got engaged 100ft off the ground on the Emirates Air Line.
On Saturday, Richard Giles, 29, popped the question to Melanie Gordon, 34, on a cable car, surrounded by London's skyline as Bruno Mars played softly in the background.
The couple have been together for eight years and live in Greenhithe. Richard works as a mechanic while Melanie is a teacher.
Melanie says her now fiance drove her to the O2 before her Valentine's Day proposal, which she described as "beyond her wildest dreams".
She said: "As the cabin reached it's height of 100 feet Richard got down on one knee and pulled out a box with a ring.
"He gave me the most beautiful speech, ending, 'Will you do me the honour of being my wife, will you marry me'. I said yes and we embraced.
"This was the most perfect moment just us, 100 feet up in the air surrounded by the awe of the London Skyline and with beautiful love songs serenading us.
"This moment we will remember forever.
"Waiting for sundown we took our return journey, now engaged and calling each other fiancé, the love songs continued to play as the sky went dark the lights of London came on and we enjoyed our chocolates absorbing the stunning scene."
More than 25,000 passenger journeys took place on the Emirates Air Line over a four-day Valentine's promotion. Cabins for loved-up couples were provided with music and free chocolates.
