A man was taken to hospital after a head-on collision between two vehicles in the early hours of this morning.

The accident between a lorry and a car happened at just before 5am on the A20 Main Road in Farningham, which forced police to shut the road in both directions between the A225 Dartford Road and the A225 Eynsford Road.

Ambulance crews were first on the scene and were soon joined by police officers and Kent Fire and Rescue (KFRS).

A spokesman for KFRS said that both of the drivers managed to escape their vehicles without assistance, although one was injured and taken to hospital by road.

One of them was believed to have been driving on the wrong side of the road.
