A burning van blocked the A2 near Dartford this evening.

The road was closed east bound at A2018 Old Bexley Lane, causing long delays.

The flames quickly destroyed the orange box van, which is thought to have been carrying beds.

The fire started in the engine compartment at about 5pm and spread through the vehicle.

Fire crews were called to extinguish the blaze.

The road was reopened at about 6.30pm.
