THE nephew of a murdered Kent doctor has called his aunt's killer a "coward".
Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found dead in her car outside her Dartford home on Tuesday, August 14, having been stabbed repeatedly in what police are calling a "frenzied attack".
Her body was later found by her 19-year-old son, Andrew.
Philip Anyetei said: "The man who did this is just a coward. He should be locked up for life."
He added: "It has not sunk in and none of us can believe it. She was really looking forward to going to see her uncle in South Africa, she had been planning it for ages."
On Tuesday - a week on from the murder - police carried out road checks in Dartford in a bid to find vital clues.
Hundreds of motorists using Watling Street were stopped and spoken to between 7am and 10.30am.
Thousands of posters were handed out and pedestrians were also spoken to in a bid to gather information and trace witnesses.
Ch Insp Dave Cooper said: "Our presence here is to try and jog memories and get people to think back to when Dr Anyetei was killed.
"It may be that someone driving past saw somebody acting suspiciously but they have not made a connection between that and the scene of the murder.
"There is only one way in and out of Teynham Road and that is on to Watling Street. At the time Dr Anyetei was killed it would have been quite busy with traffic so it is possible a motorist could have seen something out of the ordinary."
The motive for the murder remains unclear and the inquiry team continues to keep an open mind as to the reason for the attack.
Det Ch Insp Anne Brittain said: "Either the attack was targeted or it was a random attack and Dr Anyetei was in the wrong place at the wrong time."
The murder weapon – a knife - has not yet been found.
