Walkers will wind their way through the darkened streets, creating a carnival atmosphere while remembering loved ones.
ellenor’s popular Twilight Walk takes place on Friday, September 16, and will see the streets turn orange – the colour of the charity’s logo – and, as the light fades, the evening sky will be lit up with torches and flashing lights.
On the back of their T-shirts, participants can write the names of loved ones they are remembering.
The event is being sponsored, for the second year running, by Esquire Developments. Based in Longfield, the company creates sustainable developments.
More than 500 people are expected to take part this year and they have a choice of two routes, 8km or 12km. Both start and finish at the Cyclopark and go via the ellenor Gravesend hospice in Northfleet, where families and nurses will be waving in support.
The walkers will also be treated with chips, ice cream and hot chocolate on their return to the Cyclopark.
Among those already signed up is Tracy Down from Cliffe Woods, who is walking in memory of her father, David Hopkins, who died at ellenor Gravesend in June last year, aged 61.
The Twilight Walk will start with a mass warm-up – cheered on by ellenor patron, former EastEnders’ actress Cheryl Fergison – and everyone will receive a Twilight Walk T-shirt and goody bag.
Entry is £15 for adults and £10 for children. Book online at www.ellenor.org/events or call Emma Whittington or Kirsty Doubleday on 01322 626506.
