A busy route in and out of a town has been partially shut for works in what has been described as a “major inconvenience”.
The B258 Swanley Lane, in Swanley, is due to officially close at 8pm this evening (April 19) until 6am on Monday (April 22).

However, the road has reportedly already been shut between Woodgers Grove and number 130 this afternoon.
In a statement, bus company Go Coach said: “Route D12 has come across road closed notices at Swanley Lane this morning and is having to divert via Birchwood Road.
“We regret that bus stops in Swanley Lane and Hextable will not be served this morning and customers should seek alternative means of travel.
“We apologise for this major inconvenience.”
According to Kent County Council, an order has been made to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of the busy road in and out of town.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via the B258 Swanley Lane, B2173 High Street/Bartholomew Way/Maidstone Road, Birchwood Road, Leyton Cross Road, Oakfield Lane, A225 Hawley Road, B258 Church Hill/High Road/Barn End Lane/Top Dartford Road/Main Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
A Thames Water spokesperson said: “A lane closure and temporary traffic lights will be in place on Swanley Lane this weekend, as our engineers work to connect five new properties to our water supply.
“We’d like thank local residents and motorists for their patience during this time.”
