Sofas, garden waste, baby seats and old tyres are some of the things you might usually find in fly-tipped waste – but not a full-size organ.
However, a large musical instrument – complete with double keyboard – was left near a row of garages in Hartley, near Longfield, earlier this week.
Tony Whittam, who lives in Culcroft, said CCTV showed two cars coming out of the road with furniture strapped to the roof. He believes the suspects could not fit the organ into their vehicles so decided to leave it where it was.
The man, who has lived in the residential close for 22 years, said: "It is a regular thing as people seem to think it is OK to dump stuff from their garages and hope someone else takes it.
"It will be reported at the end of the week, I am giving the person a few days to come back and maybe move it. But that is probably wishful thinking."
But when he returned from work last night he was surprised to see the organ had in fact been collected. He said someone had come round during the day, loaded it into a van and left with it.
Whether it was the same people who left it remains a mystery.
The item was dumped at 8.30pm on Monday night and Tony believes it is not the first time the culprits have done this.
Sevenoaks District Council confirmed it was not reported and neither was it removed by its team. The council has removed two items from the road since January 2021.
A spokesman added: "We take fly-tipping very seriously and we have a dedicated investigation and enforcement team. Whenever the team has evidence from a fly-tipping incident, they will take enforcement action against those responsible."
Other unusual things to have been left in the area also include an office-sized photocopier and a sofa as well as "random trash".
