Fairfield Leisure Centre will finally reopen next month after almost two years of extensive refurbishment.
New operators Places for People Leisure are putting the finishing touches to the freshened up facility, which shut in March 2014.
The £12m development will offer a huge gym space, studios, a sports hall and, of course, the main pool has received some much needed attention.
Also being prepped for the grand opening is a teaching pool, diving zone, learners’ pool, a sauna, an activity room and a cafe.
Changing rooms and the main reception have been given a new coat of paint and the entire building sports a welcoming, modern aesthetic.
The Messenger received an exclusive tour of the new Fairfield centre in October, and Dartford council leader Cllr Jeremy Kite is delighted with the progress made since then.
“I think it will make such a difference for the town,” he said.
“It has been a long time waiting for it. I think when people see it they will be really pleased with it, hopefully it will last another few decades.”
Speaking in October, Cllr Kite was confident that Places for People would prove to be an excellent operator, and that locals would be pleased with the pricing options.
A special pre-opening offer is being advertised – memberships are available for £20.16, with nothing more to pay until March 1.
There will be memberships that cover all of the gym, pool and classes, as well as just the pool or gym. There are also junior, adult, family and concession options.
Swimming lessons, sports courses and parties will be available for booking when the centre opens.
