AN ELDERLY man has died in hospital after being involved in a four-vehicle crash on the A2 near Dartford.

The victim, who was 83, lived in the north Kent area but has not yet been named.

The accident occurred at around 11.20pm on Tuesday after police received reports that his Toyota car was being driven the wrong way along the carriageway.

After the crash he was taken to Dartford's Darent Valley Hospital but died a few hours later. Police said nobody else was hurt.

The coroner is being informed and an inquest will be held.
