IT's been a challenging start to the year to say the least, but many businesses throughout north Kent are not only surviving the recession, they are thriving.
And this year the Dartford and Gravesham Business Awards hopes to sing the praises of hard-working companies with a prestigious awards ceremony and acknowledgement.
Supported by Dartford and Gravesham councils, John Lewis Bluewater, Thames Gateway (Kent) Chamber of Commerce, Lloyds TSB, Vizards Wyeth, Barnes Roffe LLP, Adecco and the University of Kent, the awards aim to highlight local firms making a success - and we want to hear from you.
This year's Dartford and Gravesend Business Awards aims to recognise and reward local commerce and is inviting businesses to bid for a place in the final.
A prize fund of £5,000 is on offer to the best enterprises in one of Kent’s most dynamic regions.
Finalists will be recognised at a gala presentation dinner being held in Acacia Hall, Dartford, in June.
Over the years, this prestigious competition has uncovered some unsung business gems that have earned well-deserved recognition.
Philip Haynes, managing director of last year’s overall winner ComputerTel, based in Gravesend, said: "Having taken part in the business awards for the last three years and as overall winners of 2008, we felt strongly that we wanted to put something back into the area where ComputerTel has been able to develop and expand successfully for the last 20 years"
The importance of the awards is reflected in the support it receives from major local businesses and councils such as Dartford and Gravesham councils, John Lewis Bluewater, Thames Gateway (Kent) Chamber of Commerce, Lloyds TSB, Vizards Wyeth, Barnes Roffe LLP, Adecco and the University of Kent.
They are keen to recognise successful local enterprise that underlines Kent Thameside’s reputation as a great place for business to flourish.
