YOUTHS and teenagers in Stone can look forward to the official opening of a youth area this Sunday.
The £40,000 area for sport, in the recreation ground in Stone, will be opened by the Dartford Mayor, Cllr Ian Armitt.
Also at the opening will be the UK’s No 1 basketball freestyler Tommy Baker, who will treat the crowds to his skilful displays and teach mini-master classes.
The project has come in response to a parish survey held last summer which asked for more facilities for youngsters.
Youths in Stone can look forward to using the tag wall, basketball ring, sports area and a shelter, all built on the site.
It will also act as a base for the detached youth workers who visit Stone two nights a week.
Just over half of the funding came from successful bids to Kent County Council, the Crime Disorder and Reduction Partnership and Bluewater Management.
