Charlton v Norwich

New manager Phil Parkinson leads Charlton into the New Year hoping the team start 2009 with the way he wants them to continue with victory in Saturday's FA Cup, third round home tie against Norwich.

Parkinson, who was this week handed the job until the end of the season, conceded he is overdue a first win to justify the faith the club's board of directors have shown in him.

"I'm delighted the board have given me the opportunity and I intend to make the most of it, starting against Norwich on Saturday," he said.

Parkinson received an early boost with Fulham's decision to allow Hameur Bouazza to play having stated earlier in the week that they did not want him to become cup-tied.

But there is an injury worry concerning skipper Mark Hudson who is troubled by a swollen ankle.

"He's had a scan and is responding well to treatment," said Parkinson. "We'll make a decision on Saturday morning."

With Martin Cranie having returned to Portsmouth at the end of his loan spell, Parkinson finds himself short at right-back.

Yassin Moutaouakil could be recalled or Jose Semedo may be switched from midfield.

Striker Andy Gray is doubtful with a back injury that needed an injection this week.

But Darren Ambrose, who returned to The Valley this week from a loan spell at Ipswich, is out of the reckoning through illness.
