Charlton have acted swiftly in appointing their new manager just two days after Bob Peeters was sacked by the club, writes Josh Fordham.
Guy Luzon, 39, has been appointed as their new head coach, signing an initial contract until the end of the 2015/16 season.
Peeters was dismissed following eight league games without a win and 24 hours after the 1-0 defeat at home to Brighton.
The Israeli coach’s last job was as manager of Standard Liege, another club in the network of owner Roland Duchâtelet.
Luzon left Liege after 18 months in charge in October following riots and protests from supporters who demanded he be sacked after the clubs poor start to the season.
The previous season he did lead Liege to first place in the Juliper Pro League and setting a Belgium record of conceding just 17 goals in 30 matches.
He previously managed the Israeli Under-21 side and took charge of them at the European U21 Championships in 2013. The highlight of the tournament for Luzon was a 1-0 victory over Stuart Pearce’s England side.
Luzon said: “I am happy to have joined Charlton and will work as hard as I can to try and make the club successful.
“We have talented players in the squad and it is my job to try and bring the best out of them.
“It is important to have a positive spirit in the team and I want to ensure the entire group is fighting together for the good of the club.”
The Addicks currently sit 14th in the Championship, 10 points off the play-off places, and without a win in nine games in all competitions.
