Charlton caretaker manager Phil Parkinson will almost certainly be entrusted with funds to buy the Coca-Cola Championship strugglers out of trouble in the January transfer window.
In a strong hint that the club's board of directors are willing to pledge faith in him, he said: "The chairman, Richard Murray, chief executive, Steve Waggott, and myself have formulated transfer plans.
"We have mapped out how we want the team to look in January. And we would like to do our business quickly, soon after the window opens.
"We want to bring players in and we want them here straightaway. I know how many I would like but that's a matter between me and the board of directors.
"I can assure our supporters that we're speaking with players and their agents on a daily basis.
"There is no guarantee that they will come but it won't be for the want of trying."
Parkinson will make a seventh attempt to register a first win since taking charge when Queens Park Rangers visit The Valley for a Boxing Day London derby.
Left-back Jay McEveley could be recalled after making a quicker than expected recovery from a shoulder injury.
The match kicks off at 1pm.
