Addicks set for FA Cup changes

Selection problems: Phil Parkinson
Selection problems: Phil Parkinson

Sheffield United v Charlton

Cup-tied players will force Charlton manager Phil Parkinson into making changes for Saturday's FA Cup, fourth round tie at Sheffield United.

Matthew Spring and on-loan Tom Soares from Stoke City are ineligible while Jose Semedo is injured.

The last time Parkinson found himself in a similar situation, missing senior professionals, the Addicks won 1-0 away to Norwich in the previous round.

The tie sees a third return to Sheffield for the Addicks who finished well beaten last week at Sheffield Wednesday and 3-1 at Bramall Lane on December 28.

Assistant manager Mark Kinsella, who took this week's press conference in the absence of Parkinson, who was discussing transfer targets with chief executive Steve Waggott, insisted:"We can bounce back from the Sheffield Wednesday beating.

"The manager is discussing transfer targets and hopefully something will happen before the window closes."

The Addicks have been assessing trailists Ulises de la Cruz, the former Aston Villa defender, and ex-Walsall midfielder Ishmel Demontagnac, though no decision has been made.
