Charlton have bolstered their midfield with the signing of Tom Soares from Premier League Stoke City.

The 22-year-old England Under-21 international and former Crystal Palace player, has been signed on a 93-day emergency loan deal that includes a 28-day recall clause.

Soares, who plays on the right side of midfield, is set to make his debut for the Addicks at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

But a deal that would have seen Charlton striker Andy Gray move in the opposite direction has fallen through.

Meanwhile, Addicks forward Izale McLeod has joined League 1 Millwall on loan.
