Addicks swoop for Waghorn

Charlton have made Sunderland striker Martyn Waghorn the first of what they hope will be two loan signings to bolster the squad ahead of Saturday's home game against Sheffield United.

Waghorn, 18, arrived at the club on a month's loan that will take him up to December 15.

He is no stranger to The Valley having played for Sunderland against Charlton in last season's FA Youth Cup quarter-final.

The South Shields youngster made his Premier League debut for Sunderland against Manchester United in December.

A pacy forward, he was awarded a two-and-half-year contract in February.

Charlton, who have three players on loan in Hameur Bouazza, Linvoy Primus and Martin Cranie, are allowed to take eight on loan - four over 23 and four under 23.
