Skipper Tom Bonner is looking forward to seeing what on-loan Dartford frontman Harvey Bradbury can do at the business end of the season - having had his share of battles against him.

Bradbury has joined the Princes Park outfit on loan from Dorchester for the rest of the league campaign and came off the bench to score on his Darts debut in their 3-1 National League South win over Farnborough on Saturday.

Experienced defender Bonner has always known he’s been in a battle against the striker and thinks his arrival is a big boost.

He said: “I’ve had a few battles with Harvey in my time.

"I’ve probably played against him five or six times. It’s always a hard game.

"Similar to Alex Wall, whether they score or not, you know you’ve been in a game.

“To get someone like him coming in for the run-in, I think it’ll be a massive boost.

"He’s, obviously, got off to the perfect start on Saturday with a goal.

“Hopefully, he can add to that and help us in our run-in.”

Joining Bradbury among the goals against Farnborough was Luke Coulson, who also made another.

“Luke sort of stole the show,” Bonner said.

“He had a good game.

“I think that was easily his best game in a Dartford shirt and he took his goal well.

“It was one of those games where everyone played well, but he stole the show. He got all the plaudits but that’s fair enough.”

Both Coulson and Bradbury struck after an early goal from Maxwell Statham.

Bonner reflected: “We played well on Saturday.

“We had a bit of a rough week before, but we have been good at home so it was good to get back to winning ways.”

Keeper Dan Wilks, who returned to the starting line-up at Hungerford, was again picked in goal ahead of Ben Dudzinski.

Bonner said: “I think they’re both quality goalies.

“Ben came in and kept three clean sheets in his first four games, and everyone was saying how good he was.

"For whatever reason, Dan’s got another chance and he’s come in and done really well.

“You can play Ben or Dan. They’re as good as each other.

“We’ve got two quality keepers there, which is always nice.”

The victory over Farnborough was a much-needed lift for Alan Dowson’s team, who had previously won only twice in nine league games.

They remain 15 points behind champions-elect Ebbsfleet with a game in hand in second spot. Darts now have nine games left to play.

Bonner, 35, said: “We’re not concentrating on challenging for the title but it’s important we finish second.

“Having the potential to go up with two home games, that’s a massive boost. We have a good home record.

“We want to finish second but, also, we want to go into the play-offs in good form and playing good football.

“Until it’s mathematically impossible to win the league, you always have that bit of hope. But I think our main target now is to really perform in the play-offs if we get there.”

Dartford, who welcomed back young defender Sam Odaudu against Farnborough for the first time since Boxing Day due to injury, visit basement boys Concord this Saturday.

“It’s another tough game. We never have an easy game at Concord,” said Bonner.

“I don’t like football cliches, but they’re fighting for their lives at the minute so we’re expecting a tough game.

“We just need to remember that we’re a good team with good players.

“Hopefully, we can put a bit of a run together.”

Defender Kristian Campbell has left to join league rivals Dulwich Hamlet.
