Dartford striker Tom Bradbrook was wise to ignore his team-mates on Saturday.

With time ticking away and the Darts leading 2-1 away to Wrexham, the visitors managed to clear their lines and work the ball down the left-hand side at the Racecourse Ground.

Luke Daley then touched the ball inside to Bradbrook.

He said: "I picked the ball up outside the box, I went to shoot - and there were six or seven people saying ‘Don’t shoot! There’s 30 seconds left, pass it or take it into the corner!’

"But I gave it a go and curled it into the corner.

"It was a great place to do it, at Wrexham. I love playing in those sort of games."

It was only Dartford's second away win in the league all season - and their first since September.

Bradbrook said: "It was one of those days where we turned up and everyone had the bit between their teeth. We wanted to work hard for each other and there was a lot of encouragement on the pitch. It was one of those games where everything came together."

The learning curve continues for Bradbrook, who was playing in the eighth tier of English football for Leatherhead this time last year.

He said: "I’ve played at lower levels and I’m used to being one of the more physical players on the pitch. But now, every single game, we walk into the tunnel and the centre-backs are about 4ft taller than me! As a target man, that’s something I’ve got to get used to.

"This league is very physical but I’m adapting and I’m working as hard as I can."
