Tony Burman could not hide his delight after Dartford came from behind to knock Dover out of the FA Trophy in a first round replay at Crabble on Tuesday night.

Jim Stevenson put the National League side ahead early-on with a strike which keeper Deren Ibrahim should have saved, but Ronnie Vint fired the visitors level moments later, just as he had in Saturday’s 1-1 draw in the original tie, and a 20-yard blast from former Dover trialist Luke Wanadio on the stroke of half-time was enough to win it for the Darts.

Boss Burman said: “I’m delighted to win it. I thought we were very unfortunate on Saturday not to win. We knew it was going to be tough at Dover, we felt they would come at us in the first 15 minutes and they did.

“We didn’t get out of the blocks and we’ve conceded a goal - to be fair Del’s made a mistake but he’s ended up proving what a good keeper he is with some of the saves he’s pulled off during the game.”

He added: “Them scoring gave us a kick-start and from that moment on I thought we took control of the game and once we scored I thought we managed the game. We’ve got the second goal and I’m delighted.

"The first goal was very similar to Saturday. We work on our set-pieces. We felt we could cause Dover problems from them and we did. With our movement at corners we have caused them problems.

"We said we wanted to be ruthless inside their box and it happened."

Vint - whose goals in both ties were his first of the season - added: "It was a tough game we were handed, a derby for us, against a side in form. They are top-six in the league above, they are not going to be a bad side.

"Coming down here was always going to be difficult and the first 10 or 15 minutes they put us under pressure.

"At 2-1 up I thought we defended very well. It was great character from the boys. The whole team was solid from Deren - even though he had his mistake, he kept us in the game with some of his saves.

"That’s what he’s been doing all season and he’s got his international call-up, he’s done brilliant for us."
