Manager Tony Burman has hailed the work done by outgoing Dartford co-chairman Bill Archer.

Mr Archer has stepped down from his position for health reasons, having helped bring the Darts back to Dartford during seven years in joint-charge of the club alongside Dave Skinner.

Burman said: "Bill’s contribution on the business side was fantastic. He was the one who negotiated with many businesses and the council as well. He’s been an incredible asset to the club.

"He’s very persuasive. He persuaded me to come back as a director and he always says what a good decision that was!

"He’s going to be missed but at the same time, he’s got to look after his health. He’s got to get himself in a better place and I’m sure he will do that. In any case, he’s on the end of the phone and we’re lucky to have someone like to Bill to call on."

Steve Irving steps up to replace Mr Archer as co-chairman and Burman welcomed his appointment.

He said: "Steve and Dave have been around forever. They do everything at the club and they do lots of things other chairmen wouldn’t even dream of doing.

"There are no airs and graces there – their sole concern is Dartford Football Club."
