The arrival of Millwall striker Alfie Pavey has helped to ease some injury concerns for Dartford boss Tony Burman.

Pavey, 21, has joined on loan and was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw at Concord on Saturday.

Burman said: “Duane Ofori-Acheampong was on a situation where had he got booked on Saturday, he would miss a further two games and he is carrying a bit of a knee injury.

“Alfie is a big lad, a big targetman and I felt I needed to bring someone else in who could be a targetman if Duane had any other problems.

“He can have a closer look at us and we can look at him. Hopefully, we can give him a chance. He is here for a month and it might continue.”

Other new players could arrive before next Thursday’s transfer deadline but Burman has plenty of eager youngsters ready to assist.

He said: “I have got some younger players (Richard Seixas, Kaka Dembele and Ben Francis) out on loan because I want them to get as much game-time as they can.

“They will be ready as and when rather than sitting on the bench at our place.”

The Darts have back-to-back home games coming up.

Truro City are the visitors on Saturday and then Margate head to Princes Park on Tuesday night. Both are fighting against relegation.

Burman said: “These games can be harder because you are expected to win.

“That adds pressure on people to do well but we have to remember how we got to third. We have hopefully constructively criticised them for what they did last week and they usually bounce back.”
