Adam Flanagan has called for a strong referee when Dartford and Woking renew hostilities at Princes Park on Saturday.

Two red cards were shown in the reverse fixture just over two weeks ago as Darts claimed a dramatic 1-0 win at Kingfield.

Cards boss Alan Dowson was also dismissed that night and Flanagan expects another feisty clash between two sides chasing promotion.

Dartford’s joint-manager said: “It’ll be a fiery game but I think it’ll be fairly-contested.

“A strong ref will be required and you don’t want to weaken yourselves in those games by needless sendings-off.

“That was evident in the game at their place and we’re wary of that as well. We definitely don’t want to put ourselves in the same position.”

Dartford occupy the final play-off spot in National League South with 12 games left while Woking went top of the table on Tuesday night.

Flanagan said: “As a manager, you want to be in the big games at the right end of the league.

“That’s not been possible for me over the last few years so it’s a new element to management for me.

“As fans and players you want to be excited and it’s the same for the management team.

“With Torquay losing to Welling (last weekend), it gives more incentive for Woking to want to turn us over and the game down at their place as well.”

Dartford are unbeaten in their last six home games with Torquay the last visiting side to win at Princes Park.

However, Woking haven’t lost a league game on the road since August and their away record is matched only by the Gulls.

Flanagan said: “We want a win to maintain where we are and they want a win to stay above Torquay so it should be interesting.

“It’ll be a game of mistakes and which team makes the least. It’s difficult to call because Woking are a really good team.

“They’ve brought in Reise Allassani and they’ve got Dave Tarpey as well (both on loan) so they’re strengthening their squad all the time.

“Our home record’s been good this year and we want to keep that intact.

“I’m hoping they’ll bring a few and we’ve got plenty that come every week so it’s the kind of big game everyone likes at Princes Park.

“There will be a good turnout and it will be a good clash between two good teams.”

Dartford hope to have striker Charlie Sheringham available after an ankle injury.
