Dartford are tantalisingly close to an FA Youth Cup tie against last season’s finalists Chelsea.

The young Darts will travel to face the Blues in the third round if they can see off either Grays or Uxbridge, who are due to play their first round match on Wednesday.

Having already come through four rounds to reach this stage, Dartford’s incentive to go one step further could hardly be bigger.

First-team manager Tony Burman looks after the club’s academy, alongside coaches Steve Mosely, Jason Long and Deren Ibrahim (pictured).

Burman said: "Everyone is up for the game.

"It will be another tough tie and obviously there’s a little reward at the end of it because the winners have been drawn against Chelsea.

"It’s massive because they’re young lads and they all want to do the best they can.

“The improvement in them this year has been excellent. They were our first years last year – our new intake – and they’re doing well.”
