Dartford captain Elliot Bradbrook insists he would rather quit football than play for anyone else.

The midfielder scored his 20th goal of the season on Tuesday night – a career-best total – in the 4-0 win over Margate.

It further secured Darts’ place in the National League South play-off zone and kept them on course for a chance of winning a place back in the National League.

Bradbrook has already said he would be unable to play for the Darts if they get promoted, due to work commitments, but he won’t be chasing the money elsewhere.

He said: “I don’t know if I could have the same enthusiasm and energy anywhere else.

“This is my hometown club. I have been living down the road for years and to think about having to travel somewhere that isn’t this, to play at a club I don’t really want to play for, for money basically, I don’t see myself doing that.

“I have been lucky to have a career with lots of goals, played at the highest level (in non-league). In our first year in the Conference, finishing eighth as a part-time team was a fantastic achievement.

“The club have been a big part of my life for a long time now and I can’t see myself playing anywhere else. I am sure if we went up this year then that would be it for me. I don’t think I want to be playing anywhere else.

“To win the league seems a bit too far for us now but the play-offs are a lottery. It could be my last game or there could be another few seasons, I have no idea.”
