Manager Tony Burman isn’t getting carried away with Dartford’s turnaround in fortunes.

The Darts boss has always stuck by his assertion that his squad are good enough to compete, having ridden through a rough patch earlier this season, and now the results are proving it.

“We have to take the rough with the smooth,” he said.

“I’ve always said we haven’t been playing badly. We had been creating chances – a lot of them – but until recently they hadn’t gone in.

“You can tell there is a different atmosphere around the place. We’ve made a step in the right direction.”

The Darts registered back-to-back wins for the first time at the weekend and are only five points off the play-off places in National League South.

Burman said. “We’re doing OK. We came back from 2-0 down against Hemel Hempstead and that gave us a boost. We managed to follow that up with a win over Bishop’s Stortford
and then again on Saturday against Hayes.

“We’ve deserved what we got. When you win and get a couple of results people see things in a different light and all of a sudden rumours people say we are only five points off the play-off positions and it’s like, ‘oh!’.

“Two weeks before it was doom and gloom, and although we weren’t getting the results we certainly weren’t a poor team. You have to just take the good comments with the bad.”

Darts are without a game this weekend.
